360-degree photos and videos are your way to place your customers right in the thick of the action. Situations and places are perceived more intensively and realistically. The technical developments of recent years impose enormous demands, in terms of storyboard, implementation and video direction in particular, all of which far exceed those of conventional productions. Over and above skillful handling and concealment of personnel and technology, meanwhile, the red thread that leads and guides the user through the 360-degree scenario is one of the major challenges.

Special technology, for almost every purse
Production means having the right equipment. Depending on the requirements, wide-ranging products are available on the market. As with so many other techniques, amateur initiatives and professional demands tend to be separated by the trigger. The idea, concept and knowledge of using the 360-degree approach in a targeted way are today what decisively underpin the decisive criteria for a fascinating implementation that inspires and brings you along with it.
Smartphone and tablet suffice – VR glasses for great cinema
When it comes to a first impression, smartphones or tablets already suffice as media on which to view current 360-degree productions on YouTube, for example.. However, the full effect of 360-degree storytelling only emerges when VR glasses are used. The impressions cannot be more intensive than this; with either the photo or the video. The user becomes part of the whole scene-setting process.

The cam was introduced together with the flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone and features two opposing lenses, each operating through 180 degrees. The cut then elicits 360 degrees. When connecting to a smartphone, a live view is also possible. The resolution; 3840 x 1920 pixels at 30 frames per second, is thus not bad at all. In addition, the small ball is compact and user-friendly. Comes with a small tripod.
Samsung Gear 360
A relatively affordable package at around 180 Euro. The camera includes two lenses, each capable of snapping 13 megapixel shots and recording videos in 2K. The system is smaller and handier than the Gear, works even without a smartphone and is compatible with most current Android mobile phones.
LG 360 Cam
At around 500 €, while not the cheapest model on the market, the 4K quality and compact features make it a perfect actioncam choice. The camera can also be used with all conventional GoPro mounts. All of which underlines its all-round credentials for 360-degree videos in 4K (2880 x 2880 pixels), from helmets and bicycles to car roofs. The Audiovox films 360 degrees horizontally and 240 degrees vertically with only a single upwards-facing lens as well as being waterproof, dustproof and shockproof.
Audiovox 360fly 4K
Kodak also offers a 360-degree camera. Here, too, is only a single upwards-facing lens, which films in 4K (2880p). This system is splash-proof, can connectible to many smartphones via WLAN and thus controllable remotely.
Kodak PixPro SP360 4K
A compact, rugged camera that captures 360-degree photos and videos through two lenses. You can shoot by just pushing a button and switching between photo and video is just as easy. A dedicated app offers numerous features and establishes the smartphone connection. As well as a live preview, the camera also features an 8GB internal memory. Videos are recorded in full HD. An f/2.0 lens emphasizes the speedy credentials of this system.
Ricoh Theta S
A small camera system; specially developed for the iPhone version 6 and higher. The connection is made directly via the Lightning connection, whereupon the live image is transmitted to the mobile screen. Videos are recorded at a resolution of 3040 x 1520 pixels and at 30 frames per second. The Insta convinces in terms of image quality, with only battery life slightly lacking in our tests.
Exceptional resolution, fully automated stitching - as with the Theta S - and easy handling - the Panono 360° sets new standards. High-resolution and exceptional image quality ticks all the boxes, with pin-sharp detail and high zoom without quality suffering. Our tip for your professional use.
